Perspectives

Artists: Trey Watkins, Cameron Brown, Alex Rinsler & Sam Jellyman. Supported by a generous grant from the Black Rock Arts Foundation.

Perspectives was an installation piece we built in London 2012 as part of the Southbank Centre Festival of the World. This co-incided with the 2012 London Olympics, so while we have no exact way of knowing we believe this project was seen by at least 5M people!

Written on the placard:

Colourful children's blocks of varying sizes are scattered over and above Festival Terrace - stand in the right places and they line up to reveal hidden messages. Perspectives encourages you to look differently at familiar objects and at the world around you. The blocks contain a number of messages which will be revealed over the course of the summer."

Three photos of Perspectives. On the left, a photo taken standing below the suspened chilren's blocks. Each block has letters on each side - L, E, C, B. The letters are in different colors. You can clearly see the wires holding them up. In the middle, an 'eye-level' shot of the installation on a sunny day. The terrace is crowded with people, some of whom lean against the largest children's block, which is about 12' tall. It is a green one, with the letters Y and T visible. On the fight, a distant shot of the terrace (the same large V and T block is visible) with the London Eye (the famous ferris wheel on the River Thames) visible in the distance.
